Review guidelines
Reviews on BuildGib are public, but the proof supplied with them is checked privately. The aim is to help other users understand what happened on a real job without opening the door to defamation, privacy misuse, or abuse.
What a review should cover
- Your own first-hand experience with the business.
- Clear details about the job, timing, communication, price, workmanship, or aftercare.
- Facts you can support and opinions that are clearly framed as opinions.
- One review per completed job. Duplicate or repetitive reviews may be removed.
What not to post
- Anything false, misleading, fabricated, copied, or posted on someone else's behalf.
- Threats, harassment, hate speech, abusive language, blackmail, or attempts to pressure a business into refunds or discounts.
- Private personal data in the public review itself, including phone numbers, private email addresses, home addresses, payment details, signatures, identity documents, or information about children.
- Public accusations of crime, fraud, theft, discrimination, regulatory breaches, or unsafe conduct. Send those concerns to BuildGib privately with evidence instead of putting them in a public review.
Images and supporting material
- Every review must include proof of the completed job. That can be work-in-progress photos, completion photos, an invoice, or another supporting document.
- Proof is reviewed privately. It is required to prevent abuse and false reviews, both positive and negative.
- Only upload images or documents from a job you are allowed to share.
- Do not upload screenshots of private conversations unless every person shown has consented or the image has been properly redacted.
- Do not upload material that reveals payment cards, unnecessary identity details, faces of children, or private access details.
How moderation works
- Anyone can submit a review, including guests, but each submission must include contact details and proof of the job.
- Reviews are checked before publication and remain reportable after they go live.
- BuildGib may hold, unpublish, edit formatting, request evidence, or remove content where there is a legal, privacy, authenticity, or safety concern.
- Businesses may reply publicly but cannot change a user's review.
- Repeated misuse of the review system can lead to account restrictions or removal.
Serious allegation workflow: if you need to report fraud, theft, violence, discriminatory conduct, unsafe work, or another issue that could expose someone to civil or criminal liability, do not put it in a public review. Send it to BuildGib privately so it can be assessed with context and supporting material.
